BA / BSc (Hons) Audio Production

The Bachelor of Arts / Science (Hons.) Audio Production is a two-year intensive degree programme, which corresponds to a three-year degree in terms of credit points (180 ECTS).


Closely linked to the industry, this highly respected course will prepare you for the constant advances in commercial technology that characterise the sector and create the demand for adaptable and skilled audio professionals.

You’ll learn music production techniques for live and recorded sound and gain a deep understanding of sound theory. You’ll develop mixing and recording skills and prepare audio outputs for different media.

This enables you to bring theory and practice together to develop your creativity and production skills to a professional level - giving you that all important competitive edge as you complete your studies.


Essential to your experience and skills training, is the quality and range of facilities offered at SAE combined with the hands-on access and one- to-one support.

The campus is equipped with custom-built, soundproofed studios along with Mac and PC labs loaded with the latest digital audio workstation applications, including Pro Tools, Cubase, Logic X and Ableton. In our campus and in the external SSL studio you will find industry standard effects processing units, compressors and mixing consoles and post-production studios.


SAE graduates worldwide are employed across the audio industry and have worked with artists from Mark Ronson to Beyoncé. They are winners of Oscars, BAFTAs and Grammys.

Whether you want to work in music production, post-production for film or TV, live sound, radio broadcasting, sound design, game sound or in one of the many different areas of the audio industry, our Audio Production degree gives you the knowledge and practical skills needed for a successful career.

    Criteria for admission to the full degree programme:

    • SAE Institute broadly adopts the admission criteria outlined by Middlesex University.
    • Successful applicants would normally be expected to meet the following requirements:
    • Minimum age 18, and
    • GCSE Maths and English Language at grade C or above, or equivalent)
    • For applications from mature students (aged 21 and above), we also consider work and life experience. In such cases, SAE Institute requires applicants to provide satisfactory evidence of their ability to successfully complete the programme.

    Criteria for Language of Study:

    • Students whose first language is not English will need a qualification that demonstrates competence in English.
    • Approved English Language Tests include:


    • IELTS: 6.0 (with no less than 5.5 within each component)
    • TOEFL: iBT: 80 (with no less than 17 within each component)


    • Cambridge Proficiency Test: no less than C
    • Cambridge Advanced Test: no less than B!
    • Cambridge ESOL: CPE Grade C CAE Grade B

    Recognition of Prior Learning

    As a creative school, SAE Institute is always looking for people who are excited about the creative media industries and therefore welcomes applicants without formal qualifications. Such candidates will be interviewed and may be required to show a portfolio of their work.

    Applicants who hold a qualification from another institution, or who have formally completed components of another qualification, must submit authorised evidence of those achievements at the time of application to SAE Institute.

    Documents required for registration of citizens of the Republic of Serbia:

    • 1. Certified copies of high school diploa and certificates
    • 2. Citizenship certificate / certified copy or original
    • 3. Birth certificate / certified copy or original
    • 4. Photos for document / 2 pcs
    • 5. Application form / at SAE Institute - on registration
    • 6. English language certification (if not a native English speaker) - TOEFL or IELTS / latest until the end of the first year

    Documents required for registration of foreign citizens:

    • 1. Validated certificates and diplomas from high school - certified copies (originals are not accepted)
    • 2. Certified copy of the passport
    • 3. Photos for document / 2 pcs
    • 4. Application form / obtained at SAE Institute
    • 5. English language certification (if the student is not a native English speaker) - TOEFL above 80 or equivalent
